How To Grow Your Email List

I’ve been sharing lots of content already on how to set up an email list over on our Instagram profile, so if you need help with that please give us a follow. Alternatively email me and I’m more than happy to help.

In this newsletter I want to cover a really powerful method of getting more people to sign up to your email list.

Why should you build an email list?

According to Campaign Monitor which is a very trustworthy email marketing system, emails are 40x more likely to generate sales than social media posts.

It gives you an audience to not only sell to, but to also get feedback from. Believe me, your audience will be more than happy to let you know what you’re doing right AND wrong - which is incredibly important.

But the main reason for building an email list is to help provide you with more predictable income; when you launch a new product or collection you’ll have thousands of people to tell straight away.

Over time, when you’ve started to send out your campaigns you’ll have a clear understanding of your ‘revenue per recipient’ which is an important metric to follow. If this number is 10p then you know that every time you send an email you’ll get on average 10p back in sales per email recipient - therefore motivating you to build that email list!

Klaviyo is a very good tool for highlighting this particular metric, so it’s worth looking at.

Create a lead magnet

What is a lead magnet? This is where you provide someone with something in exchange for them signing up to your email list.

Typically this is free shipping or a small percentage discount - which work well and are an excellent way of building an email list. At Cosy Aromas and Craft HQ we add around 150 people to our email list every day with this method.

However, to really stand out and increase the number of people submitting their email address there are other things you can provide for free too:

  • A free downloadable guide on how to recycle used wax.
  • A free candle care guide.
  • A free product on their next order.
  • A free printable weekly planner for their fridge (branded of course).

There are lots of things you can offer here instead of just a discount to help you stand out.

With these things you just need to create the downloadable item, hire a freelancer on Upwork to do this for you.

Then you set up an auto-reply in your email marketing system to trigger an email to be sent to all new subscribers with a link to this download.

This is such a powerful and consistent way of growing your email list, resulting in more eyeballs on your brand and therefore more sales.
